Edward Snowden Accepting Bitcoin Donations For His Legal Defense Fund — Repatriating To U.S. Soon?
Carlo Caraluzzo, writing on the January 1, 2014 website, COINTELEGRAPH, which advertises its sire as a place to discuss “live crypto-currency community opinion,” notes that “Edward Snowden is now accepting donations in Bitcoin for his legal defense fund.” Does this indicate that Mr. Snowden is going to surrender to U.S. authorities and be extradited back to the U.S. for trial?
The website adds that Mr. Snowden is “accepting donations in Paypal, credit card, check, bank transfer, and now of course — Bitcoin. The donation site is owned and operated by Wikileakes,” Mr. Caraluzzo writes, “which is registered by Jullian Assange.”
I wonder if this is a presage to Mr. Snowden turning himself into the U.S. Embassy in Moscow for extradition to the United States sometime this year? And. how would donors be guaranteed that any such donations would not go to fill Mr. Snowden’s own pockets — rather than purely for legal defense assistance? V/R, RCP
