‘Maddening’ Obama State Department ordered Marines to surrender weapons after evacuating Yemen embassy

U.S. State Department officials ordered Marines evacuating the embassy in Yemen to do something they are taught from Day One of basic training never to do under any circumstances: to surrender their weapons.
CENTCOM, or Central Command, is “outraged” that “crew served weapons were destroyed at the embassy, while Marines’ personal weapons were ‘rendered inoperable’ at the airport, and their destroyed components were left behind,” Fox News reported.
The Marines were flying out of Yemen aboard a civilian charter flight rather than a military aircraft, Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren told Military.com. He “suggested that the handover of weapons may have resulted from international rules barring weapons on a civilian flight,” Military.com reported.
Yemen, hailed by President Obama only two months ago as a counter-terrorism success story, is now in the hands in Iran-backed insurgents.
The incompetence is “maddening,” veteran and Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth told Megyn Kelly on “The Kelly File” Wednesday.
“So, we’re surrendering around the world, we’re surrendering our embassy, and now we’re asking U.S. Marines to surrender their dignity, give up oaths that they made, creeds that they live by, and surrender their rifle,” Hegseth said.
“Someone botched the plan, Megyn,” the fired up veteran added. “And we gotta find out who made that call to make Marines surrender their rifles.”
When Hegseth brought up the fate of the abandoned embassy, Kelly said that, according to State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, everything will be fine, and then played a clip from today’s State Department news briefing:
“We expect to be able to return to the embassy in the same condition,” she announced in the clip.
When Associated Press reporter Matt Lee questioned that prediction, she changed the word “expect” to “hope.”
Hegseth was still furious.
“It is maddening how naive this administration is!” Hegseth said after the clip was played. “John Kerry’s State Department clearly never learned what Hillary Clinton’s State Department never learned — that you gotta have a contingency plan in these situations.”
