Russia’s arms exports top $13 billion in 2014 — Rostec head

ABU DHABI, February 23. /TASS/. Russia has offered Iran its latest Antey-2500 anti-ballistic missiles to replace less powerful S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, the head of Russian state conglomerate Rostec said on Monday, adding that Tehran was now considering the offer.

Speaking at an international arms show in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, Sergey Chemezov noted that conflicts in the Middle East had helped boost Russian arms sales.

“I don’t conceal it, and everyone understands this, the more conflicts there are, the more they buy off weapons from us. Volumes are continuing to grow despite sanctions. Mainly, it’s Latin America and the Middle East,” Chemezov told journalists.

“As far as Iran is concerned, we have offered Antey-2500 instead of S-300. They are thinking. No decision has been made yet,” he added.
