Islamic State Kidnaps 90 People From Christian Villages In Syria Human Rights Watch Group Says
The Islamic State has kidnapped at least 90 people after “sweeping through Christian villages in Syria overnight. According to London’s TheDailyMailOnline, the abductions reportedly occurred after the Islamic State seized two Assyrian communities from Kurdish forces in the northeastern Syrian province of Hassakeh. Most of the captives are reportedly from the village of Tai Shamiram, located 50 miles southwest of the Hassakeh provincial capital of Qamishli, while others were taken to the village of Tal Hermuz,” according to the DailyMailOnline. The kidnappings were first revealed by the British-based human rights group — Syrian Observatory For Human Rights. Seventy to 100 women and children were reportedly taken away — while the men were transported to the Abd al-Aziz mountains. Land lines have also reportedly been cut and mobile cell towers shutdown.
The Islamic State group’s radio station, al-Bayan, said in a report this morning that Islamic State fighters “had detained “tens of crusaders’ and seized 10 villages around Tai Tamr, after clashes with Kurdish forces .
